1. Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
1. Recherchez la charité. Aspirez aussi aux dons spirituels, mais surtout à celui de prophétie.

2. For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
2. En effet, celui qui parle en langue ne parle pas aux hommes, mais à Dieu, car personne ne le comprend, et c`est en esprit qu`il dit des mystères.
2. "Fa izay miteny amin’ny fiteny tsy fantatra dia tsy miteny amin’olona, fa amin’Andriamanitra; fa amin' ny fanahy no itenenany zava-miafina, ka tsy misy olona mahalala;"
3. But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
3. Celui qui prophétise, au contraire, parle aux hommes, les édifie, les exhorte, les console.
3. Fa izay maminany kosa miteny amin’olona ho fampandrosoana sy ho fampirisihana ary ho fampiononana.
4. He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
4. "Celui qui parle en langue s`édifie lui-même; celui qui prophétise édifie l`Église."
4. "Izay miteny amin’ny fiteny tsy fantatra dia mampandroso ny tenany; fa izay maminany kosa mampandroso ny fiangonana."
5. I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
5. Je désire que vous parliez tous en langues, mais encore plus que vous prophétisiez. Celui qui prophétise est plus grand que celui qui parle en langues, à moins que ce dernier n`interprète, pour que l`Église en reçoive de l`édification.
5. "Tiako raha samy hiteny amin’ny fiteny tsy fantatra ianareo rehetra; nefa aleo haminany; fa izay maminany dia lehibe noho izay miteny amin’ny fiteny tsy fantatra, raha tsy mandika teny koa izy mba hahazoan’ny fiangonana fampandrosoana."
6. Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?
6. Et maintenant, frères, de quelle utilité vous serais-je, si je venais à vous parlant en langues, et si je ne vous parlais pas par révélation, ou par connaissance, ou par prophétie, ou par doctrine?
6. Nefa, ry rahalahy, raha mankeo aminareo aho ka miteny amin’ny fiteny tsy fantatra, inona moa no soa vitako aminareo amin’izany, raha tsy fanambarana, na fahalalana, na faminaniana, na foto-pampianarana, no hitenenako aminareo?
7. And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?
7. Si les objets inanimés qui rendent un son, comme une flûte ou une harpe, ne rendent pas des sons distincts, comment reconnaîtra-t-on ce qui est joué sur la flûte ou sur la harpe?
7. Ary ny zavatra tsy manana aina mamoaka feo, na sodina, na harpa na dia maneno aza, raha tsy manao feo samy hafa, ahoana no hahafantarana izay ataony, na amin’ny sodina, na amin’ny harpa?
8. For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
8. Et si la trompette rend un son confus, qui se préparera au combat?
8. Fa raha manao feo hafahafa ny trompetra, iza no hiomana hiady?
9. So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.
9. De même vous, si par la langue vous ne donnez pas une parole distincte, comment saura-t-on ce que vous dites? Car vous parlerez en l`air.
9. Dia toy izany koa ianareo: raha tsy mazava ny teny aloaky ny vavanareo, hatao ahoana no fahafantatra izay lazainareo? Fa raha tsy izany, dia miteny amin’ny rivotra ianareo.
10. There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
10. "Quelque nombreuses que puissent être dans le monde les diverses langues, il n`en est aucune qui ne soit une langue intelligible;"
10. Mety misy fiteny maro samihafa amin’izao tontolo izao, ka samy manana ny heviny avy ireny.
11. Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.
11. si donc je ne connais pas le sens de la langue, je serai un barbare pour celui qui parle, et celui qui parle sera un barbare pour moi.
11. Koa raha tsy mahalala ny hevitry ny fiteny aho, dia ho toy ny baribariana amin’izay miteny, ary izay miteny dia ho toy ny baribariana kosa amiko.
12. Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.
12. De même vous, puisque vous aspirez aux dons spirituels, que ce soit pour l`édification de l`Église que vous cherchiez à en posséder abondamment.
12. "Ary toy izany ihany koa ianareo; raha fatra-paniry ny fanomezam-panahy, dia izay hampandroso ny fiangonana no tadiavo indrindra."
13. Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.
13. C`est pourquoi, que celui qui parle en langue prie pour avoir le don d`interpréter.
13. Koa aoka izay miteny amin’ny fiteny tsy fantatra hivavaka mba hahay mandika teny koa.
14. For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
14. Car si je prie en langue, mon esprit est en prière, mais mon intelligence demeure stérile.
14. Fa raha mivavaka amin’ny fiteny tsy fantatra aho, dia ny fanahiko ihany no mivavaka, fa ny saiko kosa tsy mahavanona.
15. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
15. "Que faire donc? Je prierai par l`esprit, mais je prierai aussi avec l`intelligence; je chanterai par l`esprit, mais je chanterai aussi avec l`intelligence."
15. "Ahoana àry no izy? Hivavaka am-panahy aho no sady hivavaka an-tsaina koa; hihira am-panahy aho no sady hihira amin’ny saina koa."
16. Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?
16. Autrement, si tu rends grâces par l`esprit, comment celui qui est dans les rangs de l`homme du peuple répondra-t-il Amen! à ton action de grâces, puisqu`il ne sait pas ce que tu dis?
16. Fa raha misaotra am-panahy fotsiny ihany ianao, hataon’izay tsy mahay ahoana no hanao “Amena” raha misaotra ianao? satria tsy mahalala izay lazainao izy.
17. For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.
17. Tu rends, il est vrai, d`excellentes actions de grâces, mais l`autre n`est pas édifié.
17. Fa ianao dia misaotra tsara tokoa, nefa ny hafa tsy mba ampandrosoina.
18. I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
18. "Je rends grâces à Dieu de ce que je parle en langue plus que vous tous;"
18. "Misaotra an’Andriamanitra aho fa miteny amin’ny fiteny tsy fantatra mihoatra noho ianareo rehetra;"
19. Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
19. mais, dans l`Église, j`aime mieux dire cinq paroles avec mon intelligence, afin d`instruire aussi les autres, que dix mille paroles en langue.
19. Nefa raha ao am-piangonana, dia aleoko manao teny dimy fantatry ny saiko mba hampianarako amin' ny feoko ny sasany koa, toy izay hanao teny iray alina amin’ny fiteny tsy fantatra.
20. Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.
20. "Frères, ne soyez pas des enfants sous le rapport du jugement; mais pour la malice, soyez enfants, et, à l`égard du jugement, soyez des hommes faits."
20. "Ry rahalahy, aza mba ho zaza amin’ny fahalalana; raha amin’ny lolompo dia aoka ho zaza ianareo, fa amin’ny fahalalana kosa dia aoka ho lehilahy."
21. In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the LORD.
21. Il est écrit dans la loi: C`est par des hommes d`une autre langue Et par des lèvres d`étrangers Que je parlerai à ce peuple, Et ils ne m`écouteront pas même ainsi, dit le Seigneur.
21. "Voasoratra amin’ny lalàna hoe: “Amin’ny olona hafa fiteny sy amin’ny molotry ny olon-kafa no hitenenako amin’ity firenena ity; fa na dia amin’izany rehetra izany aza, dia tsy hihaino Ahy izy, hoy Jehovah”"
22. Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
22. "Par conséquent, les langues sont un signe, non pour les croyants, mais pour les non-croyants; la prophétie, au contraire, est un signe, non pour les non-croyants, mais pour les croyants."
22. "Koa ny fiteny tsy fantatra dia famantarana amin’ny tsy mino, fa tsy amin’ny mino; fa ny faminaniana kosa dia amin’ny mino, fa tsy amin’ny tsy mino."
23. If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
23. Si donc, dans une assemblée de l`Église entière, tous parlent en langues, et qu`il survienne des hommes du peuple ou des non-croyants, ne diront-ils pas que vous êtes fous?
23. Koa raha vory amin’ny toerana iray ny mpiangona rehetra, ary miteny amin’ny fiteny tsy fantatra ny olona rehetra, ka miditra ny tsy mahay, na ny tsy mino, tsy holazainy va fa very saina ianareo?
24. But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
24. Mais si tous prophétisent, et qu`il survienne quelque non-croyant ou un homme du peuple, il est convaincu par tous, il est jugé par tous,
24. "Fa raha samy maminany izy rehetra, ary miditra ny tsy mino, na ny tsy mahay, dia ho voan’ny anatra ataon’izy rehetra izy sady hotsarain’izy rehetra;"
25. And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
25. les secrets de son coeur sont dévoilés, de telle sorte que, tombant sur sa face, il adorera Dieu, et publiera que Dieu est réellement au milieu de vous.
25. Ary miseho ny zava-miafin' ny fony, dia hiankohoka izy ka hivavaka amin’Andriamanitra, sady hilaza fa eo aminareo marina tokoa Andriamanitra.
26. How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
26. Que faire donc, frères? Lorsque vous vous assemblez, les uns ou les autres parmi vous ont-ils un cantique, une instruction, une révélation, une langue, une interprétation, que tout se fasse pour l`édification.
26. Ahoana àry no izy, ry rahalahy? Raha miangona ianareo, dia misy manana salamo, misy manana foto-pampianarana, misy manana fiteny tsy fantatra, misy manana fandikan-teny, misy manana fanambarana. Aoka ny zavatra rehetra hatao ho fampandrosoana.
27. If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
27. "En est-il qui parlent en langue, que deux ou trois au plus parlent, chacun à son tour, et que quelqu`un interprète;"
27. "Raha misy miteny amin’ny fiteny tsy fantatra, dia avelao ho roa na telo, fa aza atao mihoatra noho izany, ka ampifanarakarahina; ary avelao hisy iray mandika teny."
28. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
28. s`il n`y a point d`interprète, qu`on se taise dans l`Église, et qu`on parle à soi-même et à Dieu.
28. "Fa raha tsy misy mpandika teny, dia aoka izy hangina eo amin’ny fiangonana; fa aoka hiteny amin’ny tenany sy Andriamanitra ihany izy."
29. Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
29. "Pour ce qui est des prophètes, que deux ou trois parlent, et que les autres jugent;"
29. Ary aoka ny mpaminany roa na telo no hiteny, fa aoka ny hafa hitsara.
30. If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
30. et si un autre qui est assis a une révélation, que le premier se taise.
30. "Fa raha misy tsindrian’ny Fanahy eo am-pipetrahana, dia aoka hangina kosa ny voalohany;"
31. For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
31. Car vous pouvez tous prophétiser successivement, afin que tous soient instruits et que tous soient exhortés.
31. Fa mahazo maminany tsirairay ianareo, mba hianaran’ny rehetra sy hampaherezana ny rehetra.
32. And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
32. "Les esprits des prophètes sont soumis aux prophètes;"
32. Ary ny fanahin’ny mpaminany dia manaiky hozakain’ny mpaminany.
33. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
33. car Dieu n`est pas un Dieu de désordre, mais de paix. Comme dans toutes les Églises des saints,
33. Fa tsy tompon’ny fikotranana Andriamanitra fa tompon’ny fiadanana, toy ny ao amin’ny fiangonana rehetra izay an’ny olona masina.
34. Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
34. "que les femmes se taisent dans les assemblées, car il ne leur est pas permis d`y parler; mais qu`elles soient soumises, selon que le dit aussi la loi."
34. "Aoka hangina ny vehivavy eo aminareo raha ao am-piangonana; fa tsy avela hiteny izy ireo, fa didìna hanoa tsara araka ny lazain’ny lalàna koa."
35. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
35. "Si elles veulent s`instruire sur quelque chose, qu`elles interrogent leurs maris à la maison; car il est malséant à une femme de parler dans l`Église."
35. "Ary raha misy tiany hianarana, dia aoka izy hanontany ny lahy raha mby any an-trano; fa mahamenatra raha miteny ao am-piangonana ny vehivavy."
36. What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?
36. Est-ce de chez vous que la parole de Dieu est sortie? ou est-ce à vous seuls qu`elle est parvenue?
36. Ahoana àry, avy aminareo va no niavian' ny tenin’Andriamanitra, sa ao aminareo ihany no nahatongavany?
37. If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
37. Si quelqu`un croit être prophète ou inspiré, qu`il reconnaisse que ce que je vous écris est un commandement du Seigneur.
37. Raha misy manao azy ho mpaminany na ara-panahy, dia aoka ho fantany fa didin’ny Tompo ny zavatra izay soratako aminareo.
38. But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
38. Et si quelqu`un l`ignore, qu`il l`ignore.
38. Fa raha misy tsy mahalala, dia avelao tsy hahalala ihany izy.
39. Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
39. Ainsi donc, frères, aspirez au don de prophétie, et n`empêchez pas de parler en langues.
39. "Koa amin’izany, ry rahalahiko, maniria fatratra ny haminany, ary aza mandrara tsy hiteny amin’ny fiteny tsy fantatra;"
40. Let all things be done decently and in order.
40. Mais que tout se fasse avec bienséance et avec ordre.
40. Kanefa aoka ny zavatra rehetra hatao amin’ny fahamendrehana sy ny filaminana.
